Job Forum with electronica 2004: Valuable Tips and Contacts for Engineering Careers in Europe

"What do I have to do today to be successful tomorrow?" – in light of the difficult situation on the job market, that is the question that frequently faces engineers as they plan their careers. In the "Job Forum" for electronica 2004 (9 – 12 November in Munich, Germany) they receive answers to this question: There, human resource managers from market-leading companies in the electronics industry discuss successful strategies for university-educated employees and engage in a dialog with interested engineers. Human resource consultants provide information on the career situation in foreign countries, and the "Semiconductor Careers Europe" Internet portal offers open positions for engineers with a degree.

The discussion forum entitled "Engineering Careers in Europe – Positions, Markets, Opportunities – What Do I Have to Do Today to Be Successful Tomorrow?" will take place on Wednesday, November 10th, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in the Embedded in Munich Arena in Hall A6. Those taking part in the discussion include such industry insiders as Susanne Jessacher, human resources director, Europe, sales and marketing at Texas Instruments; Hans Peter Harsch, human resources director, Europe, at Samsung; Oliver Kaltenbach, managing director of personnel, Germany, for Freescale Semiconductor; Dr. Robert Zinkanell, vice president human resources at austriamicrosystems; Dr. Susanne Ihsen from VDI (Association of Engineers); and Renate Schuh-Eder, managing director of SCHUH-EDER Executive Consulting. Moderated by Hans-Herbert Holzamer, a newspaper editor from the "Süddeutsche Zeitung," the forum will cover the most important aspects and steps for successfully planning a career in engineering. The audience will have the opportunity to pose questions to the human resource managers directly and to make initial contacts.

On all four days of the trade show, the "Job Forum" in Hall A6 at booth A6.414 serves as a permanent information and communications platform for engineers with work experience and for those just entering the job market. Here, besides general information and tips for career planning, interested visitors can gain insight into professional opportunities in Germany and other European countries. On November 10th, the recruitment consultancy Redline Group plc is available for personal conversations on the job market in Great Britain and Ireland. On the following day Iangar Partners provides concrete reference points for a successful career as an engineer in Italy, and on November 12th, the company GMC will answer all the question for engineers with ambitions in France. On all four days of the trade show, the experts from SCHUH-EDER Executive Consulting are available on site to answer any questions related to a career in Germany.

The Job Forum for electronica 2004 also offers special job listings. In the "Job-Forum" at www.electronica.de and in the partner portal "Semiconductor Careers Europe," numerous renowned companies from the electronics industry, such as Samsung, OMRON or Elmos are listing open positions. For their future career plans, engineers will find information on potential employers in each of electronica's 14 halls, in which over 3,000 companies from the international electronics industry are represented.
